Beyond Innocence Foundation (BIF) was founded in 2013 by Martha Mghendi-Fisher and her mother, Beata Dali Mghendi in response to the need of a safe house due to a growing number of child abuse cases in Taita.
The lack of such a facility in Taita, meant that the abuse continued for too long since minors had no place to run to. Even though we BIF can not remove the permanent scars from abuse, BIF hopes to help heal the wounds that we can not see.
BIF is a Not-For-Profit & Non-Govermental Organization that will provide a safe house, a home and rescue center for abused minors. The construction of the safe house is currently underway with ground work already started in 2013.
The home is the only facility in Taita Taveta County so far, that will offer shelter for sexually, emotionally & physically abused minors, including those running away from early or forced marriages.
Our main aim is to offer a safe haven for children and also provide counseling to help them get through the abuse trauma while at the same time giving them an opportunity to continue with their education and hence giving them hope for the normal and bright future they deserve.

Equipped with a piece of land personally donated by the Founder( Martha Mghendi-Fisher), BIF is already constructing the home. The dormitory that will accommodate 25 girls at a time, is almost completed. After that, constructions of the dormitory that will accommodate 25 boys at a time will be started.
BIF will offer temporary accommodation to maximum 50 minors at a time, with an aim of expanding facilities in future to accommodate more minors. The home will also have classrooms that will allow the children to continue with their education while living at the home.
Our aim is to have 50 children at a time for a maximum of 3 months and in exceptional cases 6 months for children who need extra time for more treatment. During the period that these children will be living at the home, each child will be allocated a Social Worker to follow up the cases. The Social Worker will work hand in hand with the Children’s Department and Government Officials to ensure that the legal process is followed in handling the case until the perpetrator is put behind bars.
There will be trained Children Psychologists/ Psychiatrists who will be in charge of providing treatment and counseling to the children.
The home will also have classrooms ,teachers and a library that will allow the children to continue with their education while living at the home.
We also hope to raise enough funds that will help BIF build a Community Dispensary/Out patient clinic at the Home.

Beyond Innocence Foundation’s Safe House/ Rescue Center is located in Landi, Taita Taveta County in Kenya.
The location is ideal because of it’s central location in Taita Taveta County and it’s in a parsley populated area that will allow and offer privacy to these children.
The Mwatate Police Station is fifteen minutes away, providing that extra security in case of emergency.
Beyond Innocence Foundation also has offices in Amersfoort,The Netherlands. The Netherlands office is the Foundation’s Management office that is in charge of the long term planning for the Foundation and also in charge of Fund Raising for the Foundation.
Lastly, Beyond Innocence Foundation has well wishers, donors and volunteers location in all parts of the world. These people play a very important role in ensuring that Beyond Innocence Foundation stays true to its Objectives.
